Videos from Mr Ibu’s funeral rites in Enugu, surface online
The funeral of renowned Nollywood actor, John Okafor, popularly known as Mr. Ibu, is currently underway in his hometown of Amuri, Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State
The actor’s body arrived in the town on Friday, June 28, 2024, ahead of his burial, with family, friends, and colleagues gathering to pay their last respects.
A night of tribute was held in his honor on Wednesday in Enugu State, with fellow actors Charles Anwurum and Victor Osuagwu among those who paid their respects.Earlier this month, the Actors Guild of Nigeria held a candlelight procession at Unity Fountain in Abuja to pay tribute to Mr. Ibu and other deceased actors.
Additionally, a novelty football match was organized by Rangers International Football Club and celebrities to honor his memory.
Mr. Ibu passed away on March 2, 2024, after a prolonged battle with illness. In October 2023, he revealed his struggle with diabetes, and unfortunately, his leg had to be amputated in November 2023 after undergoing seven surgeries.The actor’s legacy and contributions to the Nigerian film industry will be deeply missed.
