Team News

  • Neil Taylor and Danny Ward both pulled out of the Wales squad prior to their match with Azerbaijan for personal reasons.
  • Derby forward Tom Lawrence is unavailable for Ryan Giggs' side because of illness.
  • Wales do have Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey fit for their must-win final qualifier against Hungary, however.
  • Aberdeen winger Ryan Hedges has been called up by Giggs for Tuesday's match with Hungary.
  • Joe Allen is available again after missing out against Azerbaijan through suspension and is expected to regain his place in midfield despite an impressive outing from Joe Morrell.
  • Bournemouth's Chris Mepham will start at centre-back with Swansea's Joe Rodon unavailable due to injury.
  • Giggs has a big decision to make how to get Harry Wilson, Daniel James and Bale in the starting XI. Bale could start up front to allow James and Wilson to start on the wings but Kieffer Moore has done well leading the line.
  • Hungary left-back Mihaly Korhut is suspended for Tuesday's game due to an accumulation of bookings. He scored the winner in their last qualifier in October.
  • Tamas Kadar would have been the likely candidate to replace Korhut at left-back but the 24-year-old picked up an injury against Uruguay on Friday and has pulled out of the squad.
  • RB Leipzig defender Willi Orban has also been forced to withdraw from injury, as has Zsolt Kalmar, in what a big blows for Hungary ahead of Tuesday's crucial qualifier against Wales.
  • With Kadar and Korhut unavailable for Hungary, Zsolt Nagy, who only made his international debut as a substitute against Hungary, will start against Wales. He will be tasked with marking Real Madrid star Gareth Bale.
  • Mate Patkai or David Holman will come into midfield, as Laszlo Kleinheisler is not in the squad.

Prediction

  • In order to qualify for Euro 2020 via an automatic top-two finish, Wales must beat Hungary on Tuesday and Hungary must avoid defeat.
  • Wales are one point behind second-place Hungary heading into the final match, though the team that doesn't finish second has a play-off place.
  • Wales will be disappointed not to take full advantage of home soil on Tuesday, while they are further boosted by the fact Hungary are missing key players.
