Team News

  • Kosovo blew their chance on Thursday to pile the pressure on Czech Republic heading into the final group game and can now longer finish second. They can still qualify for Euro 2020 through the play-offs, however.
  • Atdhe Nuhiu scored in the absence of star striker Vedat Muriqi on Thursday and the Sheffield Wednesday forward will be full of confidence ahead of Sunday's welcome of Group A leaders England.
  • It remains to be seen what side of team Kosovo will field given this game means nothing to them. Besar Halimi, Edon Zhegrova and Idriz Voca have been regulars for Kosovo in qualifying but were all benched against the Czech Republic. They will push to start here if changes are made.
  • England secured qualification for Euro 2020 on Thursday night with an emphatic 7-0 win at home to Montenegro and must avoid defeat on Sunday to secure top spot.
  • Gareth Southgate is expected to rotate from the side that started at Wembley, but is unlikely to make wholesale changes given they still have work to do to secure first place.
  • Jordan Henderson missed out last week through suspension and has now returned to Liverpool after failing to overcome illness, while Joe Gomez is also ruled out after suffering a knee injury in training.
  • With Henderson out and James Maddison a serious doubt with a slight calf problem, Southgate may name the same midfield that started against Montenegro.
  • Southgate has already confirmed Raheem Sterling will start against Kosovo after being dropped against Montenegro for a training ground altercation with Liverpool centre-back Gomez.
  • Ben Chilwell registered a hat-trick of assists against Montenegro and will surely keep his place in the team here. Kieran Trippier could come into the side for Trent Alexander-Arnold, however.

  • Kosovo conceded twice in the space of eight second-half minutes to let their 1-0 lead over Czech Republic slip on Thursday night. They can no longer finish second in Group A and their only chance of qualifying for Euro 2020 is now through the play-offs.
  • England celebrated their 1000th game in style after hammering Montenegro 7-0 on Thursday. Gareth Southgate's men qualified for Euro 2020 in the process and now need to avoid defeat on Sunday to secure top spot.
  • England won the reverse fixture 5-3 and there could be more goals in this one if they give up chances like they did against Montenegro on Thursday.
  • However, now second place is out of reach for Kosovo, England should run out winners on Sunday.
